Back in 2007, during college move-in, I snapped a photo that would become a globally recognized meme—often called “one of the most hilariously ironic moments ever caught on camera.” It was a fluke, sure. But it also said something about instinct, timing, and the power of perspective.

Originally uploaded to CollegeHumor, the image took on a life of its own—shared across forums, meme pages, media sites like YouTube. What started as a casual snap of a terrible accident became a viral case study in how a single frame can tell a complete story.

I didn’t know it at the time, but that photo captured more than a moment—it hinted at the kind of on-location, first-person storytelling I’ve leaned into today.
